A pretty preview

I hinted a while back that I was working on a little pretty and today I’d like to share her with you. Meet Gretchen, a happy little bear that loves naps. I’ve had Gretchen finished for a while, but her dress was another story. I drafted the pattern by hand and cut it out. And drafted it again and cut it out. And drafted it again. You get the picture. It’s still not exactly what I want, but Gretchen loves it and begged me not to change it. Who am I to tell her no? I’ll be listing Gretchen in my shop soon, but I have a decision to make. You see, I thought (as did Gretchen) that she should have a little quilt when she goes to her new home. So, I got out my recently increasing stash of fabrics and made one for her. It’s my very first quilt. It’s blue calico and natural linen patchwork with embroidery on it’s tiny corners. The problem is, I don’t feel like the quilt and Gretchen go together very well. I think she needs a quilt in different colors. So, for now, Gretchen makes her debut sans quilt, but never fear, once my company leaves this weekend, I will return to mini quilt making stealth mode. Another amigurumi kitten

Here’s a kitten I made as a custom order on Etsy. I picked out the yarn and it was a bitch to make! It’s a good thing it turned out as cute as it did - it was waay too much trouble to wind up being ugly. Click for bigger pics.

Amigurumi kitties rule!

I’ve been bitten by the crochet bug…the amigurumi crochet bug to be exact. I kept seeing this word on Etsy associated with tiny, precious crochet animals, so I went and did some research. It means to make small animals…huh, who would have thought it? All I know is there are a lot of people making them, and now I know why. I LOVE them. I am hooked. Here are two little kitties I’ve made. I’ve promised one to the Niece, but I may spiffy these up a bit and list them on Etsy.
