Daisies for Spring
I just finished a wool felt pouch embroidered with daisies and posted it in my shop. I love daisies. To me, they represent all that is pure and sweet and fresh - just like Spring. I’ve also noticed that I’ve taken a liking to wool felt. It’s so versatile (and you don’t have to hem it!). I never thought about decorating pouches or wallets until I saw them on Etsy and other indie sites. Now the ideas are just bouncing around in my head.
I used perl cotton for the embroidery. I remember using it when I was a kid, trying to teach myself to embroider. I didn’t like the heavy thickness of it. It made the clunky efforts of an 8-year old seems even clunkier. That was before I discovered the glorious world of DMC floss. I love to collect the colors! But, for this little pouch, I thought the texture of the perl cotton would feel so good. I was right. I had to put this away so I would stop running my finger across the flowers. Don’t you love the feel of embroidery?
