Wow - it’s been a while…

I knew it had been a couple of weeks since I posted to my blog, but I didn’t realize it had been a month! Like everyone, I’ve been busy, busy. I’ve been working on custom orders, but found the time last night to bead a new pair of earrings for my shop. The color looks purple, but they are more of a grayish purple. I call them Mocha Eggplant. They’re pretty and dainty and perfect for afternoon tea.

Last of the Winter Brown

I noticed a beautiful beaded fringe bead made by Janie Warnick in a book I recently purchased. I contacted Janie to see if she would allow me to use her pattern to make a few beads for my shop. She graciously agreed, and here we have my first fringe bead:

Pretty Dainty Dangles

I love these earrings that I just listed in my shop! They are pretty and witty and wise! I love pretty and vintage and these have both. The enamel flower petals are vintage pieces I found, while everything else is just pretty. I’ve been buying supplies like a fiend so I can make a lot more pretty jewelry. Stay tuned for more!

Once in a blue moon…

I’m still trying to decide if I’m going to get the flu or not. I don’t feel good and I’m coughing my head off, but I’m not running fever and getting the chills/sweats yet - thank goodness.

I did manage to get some beading done, in spite of two audits this week at work and feeling like I just wanted to sleep all the time. I just listed this piece in my shop:

I’ve used a different chain on all of the beaded beads I have listed just to see what sells. I love the chain on this one - it’s 22″ and silky smooth. It looks almost like a silver fiber cord, but it’s sterling. The blue is fabulous too. I call it colonial blue. Blue is my favorite color and I have to watch myself or everything in my shop would be blue!

Speaking of blue, here’s a sneak peak at another item that finished and ready for my shop. I will probably list these tomorrow:

I had so much fun making these! I finally got to use some of the jewelry findings I’ve been buying on Etsy. Plus, I got to use a different shade of blue - a beautiful pale blue (which is my absolute favorite shade of blue!) Watch my shop tomorrow to see these up close and personal.

It’s time to vote again!

The Beadweavers February Challenge theme was Spring Break. All of the entries are in and the voting has begun. Visit the Beadweaver’s blog to cast your vote. The selections are great again this month!

I was lazy and didn’t get my entry finished. I worked on it last night and it is NOT wanting to cooperate with me. I may have to re-think it. I’ll keep you posted.

Go vote!

And love goes round The Storque!

The Storque asked the teams of Etsy to write little blurbs to be featured in an article about Valentine’s Day. The blurbs were supposed to highlight what the teams had planned for the holiday. Ours featured a write up about the challenge (which we ended YESTERDAY…eek!) and they chose a photo from the 42 red entries to represent the team. I have to say I was delighted when I saw my necklace in the article.

Speaking of the Beadweavers challenge, I want to say congratulations to Fennel Skellyman - the first man to join our group! - for receiving the most votes for his extravagant Fire Garden Necklace!! (Note: I came in 10th place in the challenge. It’s not a fabulous place to be, but it’s not too bad considering it was my first entry so thank you to everyone that voted for me!!) Fennel gets to pick the challenge theme for March because we changed things up a bit and we’re already working on the February theme - Spring Break.

I’m having trouble getting anything Spring in my head. I wanted to use February to do a cool winter piece. When I think of Spring Break, I think of March. But nevertheless, the team is hard at it, creating beauties for the next challenge. Voting will begin February 7th. I’ll remind you again once all of the entries are in.

If you want to follow along as the challenge pieces get listed, just search for EBWC on Etsy. If you click that link now, you’ll still see some of the RED pieces, but that will change once Spring Break pieces are listed.

Tell me you love me…

Sometimes, I think it’s hokie when people name their jewelry, but these last two pieces have named themselves without me even having to think about it. Available in my shop.

And love goes ’round…

Well, I finally managed to complete a piece and enter it in the Beadweavers Challenge. We chose red as our theme so we could showcase our items with a Valentine’s article in the Storque.

I chose a simple, elegant design for my entry - a luscious beaded bead suspended on a sterling silver chain.

Please visit the Beadweaver’s blog and vote for your favorite beginning January 7th.
